Agriterrorism – a ‘very real’ possibility
The outbreak of
FMD in Great Britain has meanwhile alarmed intelligence services, the armed
forces and security authorities. The reason is that they fear agriterrorism,
which a former expert on terrorism from Germany’s intelligence service BND
judges to be a ‘very real’ possibility: A deliberate covert biological attack
could destroy all the animals and plants of a whole region, he said in an
interview.
Secret bio-weapon laboratories have already developed the
appropriate means to infect and destroy wheat fields or other harvests. The
same applies to variants of bubonic plague and FMD, which, according to information
provided by the Russian expert on bio-weaponry, Ken Alibek, who defected
to the US in 1992, were already developed by the Soviet Ministry of Agriculture.
This gave them the capacity to contaminate huge areas of cultivation.
