Farmers Building up Resistance

Farmer May Sue to Save Healthy Flock

A Scottish farmer who has been ordered to slaughter his flock of 1,000 healthy sheep is considering legal action against the Government, writes Auslan Cramb.

Colin Strang Steel, whose farm is more than 40 miles from the nearest infection, received a letter telling him his sheep would have to be culled because he bought one ram in Cumbria last month. Vets have given his farm the all-clear four times in recent weeks, and Mr Strang Steel said the slaughter of his entire flock was ‘totally wrong’.
