The Media no Longer Represent People's Opinion

Sir,

I read your article on the Red Cross with great interest; I need to help in the British Red Cross Thrift Shop in Rye, and we raised quite a lot of money (for a small concern). I mean we were a small concern, not the Red Cross.

I quite agree with what you say about globalising America. As far as this country is concerned, we are no longer a kingdom under Magna Carta, or even a Parliamentary democracy, but a dictatorship, but most people do not know. Blair has got complete control over the Press, or nearly complete.

For example, two years ago, the anti-EU organisations held a Mass Rally in London. Tenthousand marched down Park Lane with a brass band, banners and flags, to a Rally in Trafalgar Square, where we had some excellent speakers. This was on a Saturday afternoon.

It is hard to believe, but on the TV that evening and the following day, and in the Sunday newspapers, many with an anti-EU policy, there was not one word about our Rally. It might never have happened. There were one or two mentions, however, of a 200-strong Black protest meeting.

We heard afterwards that Blair had done this by threatening to withdraw funds from his Government advertising Budget from the Press and TV. Why did the Press not just gang up against him? Because of their Big Business owners, I suppose.

Blair hardly even consults his Cabinet nowadays; the country is ruled by Tony's cronies.

As regards the emblem of the Red Cross, would it help if you reverted to the Red Cross alone, that being the flag of Switzerland, the only genuinely neutral country? If you have the Red Crescent, the others will want theirs.
