Operation ‘Anti-Americanism’
AB.The attacks on Switzerland for its supposed role in World War II stand
yet uncorrected and already the next propaganda operation is being brought
into motion from the same direction of the wind. The great hegemon is trying
to keep those ‘friendly and neutral nations’ close to it from thinking independently:
their critical positions on the war are to be reversed by the use of reproaches
to make them compliant as vassals.
What did the Swiss really say in the Isopublic poll carried out between 15th
and 27th January? Asked what opinion they had of America and Americans in
general, 41% answered with ‘more or less negative’. Asked ‘What is your opinion
about how the American way of life is becoming a global one?’, 52.6% answered
with ‘more or less a negative one’. 46.2% think that Europe is superior to
America culturally. Question no.4 was: ‘America is the current sole military
and political world power. Do you think a second world power is needed to
balance it out or not?’56% say: ‘Yes, a second one is needed’. Question no.5
was: ‘The armies of various nations are being deployed in the Near East.
Under what conditions would you think the US and its allies are justified
in using military power?’ 40.2% answered: ‘Under no condition whatsoever.’
And last but not least: ‘On September 11th 2001 attacks were carried out
in New York and Washington with airplanes. In your opinion, are the American
Government’s policies more likely or less likely responsible?’, 55.4% answered
with ‘more likely’.
Since then, people whose political leanings produce an interesting shade
of color, instead of discussing American-British war plans to establish a
new world order, have busied themselves in the spreading of stereotype remarks
about ‘Swiss anti-Americanism’. The fact that exactly the same noises are
to be heard in Germany coming from a particular political camp makes the
whole thing all the more remarkable, though none the wiser. Operation ‘Anti-Americanism’
has become—obvious to all—an integral part of the war propaganda. But this
time things are not going to go the way the string-pullers would like them
to. The lies and fissures have too clearly revealed the sinister intentions
behind the operation. The civil societies of all countries—of Switzerland
as well—are no longer so easily duped. Intermediaries to the CIA, Pentagon
and the Council of Foreign Relations must therefore come to the realization
that the Swiss have a mind of their own. And hopefully they do. Hopefully
all are so committed to neutrality and to the Swiss humanitarian tradition
that they will observe the war from a very critical stance. Hopefully all
will be so dedicated to the preservation of world peace that they will increasingly
take on an opposing position. Hopefully their sense of honor is strong enough
to reject being instrumentalized by the ‘American way of life’ as a means
to gain political world dominance. Andhopefully they know and value their
European intellectual tradition more than what the Bush warriors have to
offer. Hopefullythey will say no to the arrogance from across the Atlantic.
America is still withholding 70% of the documents pertaining to World War
II from public scrutiny. 70% of the truth of that disaster is not being brought
to light, even though 50 years have elapsed, the time proscribed by the Freedom
of Information Act at which point any classified information must be made
fully available for academic research. The Swiss know very well why they
continue to demand that these documents be made public. Had the liar Eizenstat
come to Davos, he would have had to realize that his lies have caught up
with him. Those familiar with historical research or those with any personal
experience of World War II know that the attacks on Switzerland still require
correcting. As long as the USA has not publicly revealed the role it played
in the years before World War II and its participation through Standard Oil
until the end of the war, no representative with the same affectations of
global rule belongs in our midst. Democracy needs honesty, demands that all
cultures be respected, demands that all countries be treated equally and
demands the will to peace.
The helpers’ helpers of operation ‘Anti-Americanism’ must be made to honestly
reveal their stance towards war and peace and to name their connections and
leaders in the apparatus of the warring power. Swiss civil society should
have demanded the same thing the last time it came under attack.
