Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor of Current Concerns, I had heard about this on TV and
then last week‘s Sunday Express also had a small piece on it on page
31, entitled ‚Foot and Mouth graves threaten our water.‘ It was
written by Paul Mcmullan. It reads like this.
Five mass graves of cattle and sheep culled during the foot and
mouth outbreak are being secretly excavated on goverment orders amid
fears that ‚leakage‘ could pollute the water supply. In the haste to
eradicate the disease, which saw 10 million cattle burned, (at least
they were a bit nearer the truth with their figures!!) other potential
pollutants, including fertilisers and farm vehicles were buried. Two
years on, substances have begun to seep out, ( how would they know this
if the vehicles were buried?! ) and Defra has ordered the inspection of
all non-carcass burial sites. (This could be just another way of
beginning to spread the disease again, if it is still present. ) Amid
allegations of a cover-up, teams of diggers arrived this week at two
sites in the Midlands. This was the first the villagers in Stoke Prior,
near Bromsgrove, knew that something was amiss. ( If they only knew!!)
A Defra spokeswoman said, ‹We can confirm five sites around England
were earmarked for excavation as part of our continuous assessment of
potentially polluting materials being placed in the carcass and non
carcass pits.› Non-carcass sites were being inspected, as in ‹a few
cases›, potential pollutants may have been disposed of in sensitive
locations.!!!!! Defra said the problems arose from engine oil from
buried vehicles ‹polluting the water course.!!› National Farmers Union
spokesman Russel Griffin said, Defra have not gone out of their way to
publicise this and there seems to be an element of secrecy about it.›
End of article.
I have since heard that the vehicles in question were taken up to
Cumbria, where such terrible destruction of our animals took place last
time. Why? It seems to me that the British government are gearing up
for another attack on our farm animals. I cannot believe that they
could be so utterly wicked as to start it all again. The mentality of
the people who are doing this beggars belief.
It was very obvious to anyone with a grain of intelligence that they
were going to have another go. Why else would they have kept these
ridiculous movement restrictions in force and made it virtually
impossible for farmers to attend Agricultural Shows because of them.
You either have FMD, in which case you don›t hold shows at all, or
you don›t have it, in which case you don›t need the movement
restrictions anyway!! Why can no-one see this except the handful of us
who know what they are like and know that they will lie whenever it
suits them? In any case it is just a matter of common sense, a
commodity which is in very short supply it seems. People still believe
the government and the newsreaders on TV, no matter how stupid or
preposterous the allegations. If they have polluted the water courses
of course, we should all be able to sue the government. That is what
would happen to any farmer or member of the public who does this. The
government also lied about the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and
if any are found now, they will most certainly have been planted.
However, I think we all know that as well, and did from the start!! I
despair of this world now. What has happened to us all that we are like
sheep in that most people do just believe anything they are told and
never seem to think for themselves? I have never known corruption like
it nor have I ever experienced such apathy from the public.
If you can help at all, it may just help to avert another
catastrophe but I don›t hold out much hope now. With the British
public›s help and belief, we could stop it but without it, we might as
well leave Blair to rule over a nation of immigrants, because all the
natural born Brits are leaving the country. Most of us no longer want to
live in a country which has so betrayed its people. Could you pass this
information on to anyone you think may be able to help? Thank you.
Kind regards, Jill Byron, England
