New Year Thoughts for 2004

Greetings for the New Year

The New Year always reminds me of Meister Eckhardt "Christmas has no meaning unless Christ is born in you." Jesus Christ surprised the world with His life. He incarnated a new hope for healing and peace in world history. Hope can be interpreted as having an attitude of being open for surprise. We too can choose to be open for surprise in the New Year. And, if Christ can be born in us, then we too can surprise the world with our life.

All of our actions and especially our interactions can add or subtract to the hope, love and compassion in the world. We too can contribute to the future we hope for. Let this too be a New Year in which hope is born in us and between us; in our marriages, families, communities, cultures and world.
