Former German Officer Says Nuclear Issue is an US Alibi for Regime Change in Iran

The United States is using the Iranian nuclear issue as an excuse for pushing forward with its hostile stands against Iran as the US seeks to dominate that country again, retired German Brigadier General Dr. Heinz Loquai said in an exclusive interview with IRNA in Berlin, April 2005.

“The current American government under (President) Bush wants a regime change in Iran, if possible without a military interference. It is so to say an indirect strategy and they are apparently working on it. The question of (Iran’s nuclear component plays a completely secondary role”, Loquai added.

“It’s like in Iraq, it’s the same pattern. Linking an alleged nuclear will in the end create the American justification ... The main geo-strategic objective is to bring Iran under American rule,” the ex-military official said.

Pointing to the long history of US attempts to interfere in Iran’s political affairs, Loquai said, “American policy is merely limited in ist ability to learn.”
